You know how I mentioned at the meeting in Tarwich, about how I received an Echo that changed how I thought about things?

I'd also previously gotten an Echo that allowed me perfect memory, months earlier. Without that, the values changed I had experienced would have utterly slipped by me.

And I'd have changed how I behaved to match.

It was that abrupt.

Something I value very highly - respecting other peoples' privacy - changed on me, in the span of a few seconds.

Normally I'd have been horrified at the thought of going through someone else's personal emails. The lack of that horror set me off.

It's not anything physical, is it? Or like depression, where there's times you don't feel anything, including sadness or anger?

So, what would your opinion be on, say, respecting people's privacy, as a general rule? Versus what you might have said two months ago?

And to compare it with something less severe, what about traffic jams?

What about things you wouldn't tolerate happening to people you know? Versus people you don't know?

[One of the more worrying aspects of the change in basic thought, on Walter's part, was that there was no such differentiation - curiosity overcame alignment, and without a sense of finite space or privacy... at least there was no thinking of it as a weapon to target on people he didn't like?]

i guess mostly i don't want people i like to get hurt and want to look after them? is that what you mean?
