IC INFORMATION
PREINCARNATION
Name: Feste (True Name unpronounceable by humans)
Canon: OC; based off of Elsewhere University (will largely be separate from the Synodiporia jaunt that I'm using for a sample)
Age: Glamour'd form appears to be about 20, is actually far, far older
Species: True Fae (Fair Folk, Gentry, etc.)
Appearance: In their Glamour, Feste is seen as a young and pretty androgynous person. They have platinum blonde hair that's usually about down to their shoulders and incredibly blue eyes.

In their True Form, they have a humanoid torso, arms, and head, but their skin and hair are ivory, their hair kind of blowing in an invisible wind and not terribly distinct from the rest of their head. Their legs from the knees down resemble those of a predatory bird, like a hawk, with sharp claws at the end. Their hands have similar talons, and they have seven ivory wings with jagged, sharp looking feathers that never seem to beat but they still stay a float above the ground. Their face is mostly human and delicately constructed, with a small nose and pretty mouth, but they have seven eyes that glow an eerie, too-bright blue, filling the whole eye so there is no white or pupil.

In both forms, somehow the lighting on them is always perfect.
History:
-Elsewhere University is a setting where a university was built on a faerie hill, and therefore the Gentry often slip onto the campus- as students (properly enrolled Gentry do pay tuition, just... weirdly), teachers, other staff, or just something else.
-As a result, the campus culture has morphed to include weird 'traditions' that are largely to keep the humans safe (such as new students being given iron washers, assigning Safe Names and banning anyone from using their True Name, the theater students taking superstitions very seriously...). These are not always successful.
-The Elsewhere is what the realm of the Gentry is called; parts of the campus are particular thin, meaning students sometimes get lost and come out changed. Other times, Gentry will just Take humans they like, sometimes leaving a Changeling behind to fill in for that student in their classes.
-Humans can trade with the Gentry using Deals, for a variety of things, but they have to be very careful and never gamble anything they can't afford to lose...
-Feste is a student Gentry who flits around through the various art programs
-Prior to enrolling in university, Feste largely maintained their own Domain (their piece of the Elsewhere that they have complete control over); as they can change it at will it never stayed way for long, but more often than not it had forest-y elements, as a way of blurring the lines should it and the human world overlap. (Though at at least one point they turned it into a theater, shortly after they discovered that was a thing.)
-They are a minor member of the Spring court but have very little interest in court politics, and indeed actively avoids any of the Royalty associated with the major courts.
-They spent quite a bit of time trying to get good at the various human arts (Taking some humans in the process, mostly to watch them perform their craft and see if they could learn that way), and when they got frustrated with it (both because no one else could see and because they felt they were Missing something) they decided to enroll.

-They are fairly good at masquerading as a human, and blend into the rather eccentric batch of students in whatever program they are currently running around in
-They are the type to lay Claim to certain humans, marking them as under their protection- but notably that protection does not extend to protecting the human from them, and they have Taken multiple students that they like.
-They also make a variety of Deals, largely pertaining to increased creativity/art prowess, which is in effect changing parts of a person's soul- sometimes they will trade for things such humans have created, but if they don't have magic or are up to scratch Feste will sometimes take a piece of their soul as payment, too, usually putting it in whatever art they were given in exchange.
-Sometimes they try to be helpful but are very bad at it. Like 'wow you're treating your soul very badly, here I will take it and keep it safe for you.'
-They also have a bad habit of cursing anyone who gets on their bad side- this has led most students to think they have connection to the Fair Folk but don't necessarily assume they are one.
-For the most part they run around doing 'normal' college student things while also making them not normal things in the slightest.

REINCARNATION
Name: Taylor 'Feste' Tilly
Age: 20
Appearance: They look like their Glamour'd form
History: "Taylor" was born to parents in a very dysfunctional situation and, shortly after he turned 2 was put into foster care with Mary Ann and Janice Tilly. Because the law of the time did not permit gay couples to adopt, the assumption was that this would be a temporary care, but as his parents were considering putting him up for full adoption a law to legalize same-sex couple adoptions starting going through the pipeline, and went through shortly before Taylor was officially up for adoption, making it fairly straight forward for Mary Ann and Janice to complete the process.

His childhood was fairly happy and normal- he adapted well to having other children filter into and out of the house, and was a very good big brother to any younger siblings. He loved stories and music and drawing and... most things, and since the family usually participated in Pride he picked up the habit of asking when the 'rainbow parade' was going to be about three months before Pride was actually set to happen.

He never felt terribly comfortable being sorted with the 'boys' in class things and tended to feel a bit weird when people tried to tell him anything about how boys should or shouldn't act. Luckily, since he grew up with fairly frequent contact with the LGBT+ community, there were plenty of resources around to figure out why and how to best deal with it. Around Year 8 they started asking certain people to use they/them pronouns and to call them Feste (a name picked because they read Twelfth Night in school and were basically delighted by Viola's everything but wanted a less gendered sounding name). By the time they were in Year 10 they'd fully moved to their new name and pronouns.

They did fine in school, for the most part, flitting around with an interest in almost every subject. They did wind up more drawn to their arts classes, joining the band, taking art classes, getting involved in theater productions, the works. They picked up things on the side (they're quite good at ukelele, even though that's not really a proper band instrument they can play in school), but did eventually have to be geeeently steered to actually pick something so they could find something to do after school ended.

Because they had such a varied number of skills and interest, they wound up going to university for film, a field that could easily be steered in the direction of any of their interests. They're in the process of trying to get an internship at the local film studio, but otherwise their university career has been pretty straightforward thus far.
First Echo: They were helping a friend with a photography project, and said friend starting gushing about how the lighting was really good that day and it made Feste look perfect. Somehow, Feste has been in 'perfect lighting' ever since.

PERSONALITY
Pre-Incarnation Personality: Feste is a largely cheerful and curious Fae, who is particularly captivated by the arts. They kind of give humans a general benefit of the doubt because of this- humans invented theater and drawing and things, therefore they tend to like them until proven that they shouldn't. They also take a great interest in humans with some kind of creative talent, often offering up their protection as a way of 'claiming' the human... which sometimes ends with that human being Taken to the Elsewhere.

They have a very playful disposition most of the time, and come across as quite friendly. For the most part very few humans ever figure out that they're one of the Gentry because of this; they just seem like a student at the university who respects the Rules and Deals. During said Deals is one of the few occasions where they reveal that they are very clever and crafty- like any proper Gentry. They do not leave any loopholes and while their deals are usually Fair, they do often to push to see just how much they can get away with. They're pleased by humans who know how to bargain them down while being polite about it.

Unfortunately, like most Fae, they are also easy to offend and incredibly petty when they are. Most humans don't manage to upset them in a first interaction- they sort of all get one free pass- but if pushed Feste will fire off a curse, and then almost immediately forget about it because it's beneath them to be concerned. Usually this has something to do with either politeness (the Fair Folk take manners very seriously) or something entirely stupid like getting the part they wanted.

They also have a bad habit of being rather childish. They are not very old for one of the Fair Folk, and they don't have the same sense of aging as humans do anyway. Feste has thrown more than one tantrum when things haven't gone their way (often along with cursing the offending party if it was outside the realm of a Deal), and tends to be sulky and pouty when forced to operate within human Rules that they don't like.

Their favorite things are cookies, cakes, coffee because it's so different from those two, and pretty things (sometimes this is jewelry, or art, or people....).

Any differences?: The biggest difference is that this Feste is human, and therefore mostly understand how humans work. They have a bearings in this realm of reality as humans know it and have a human moral and ethical code, and will (for the most part) stick to it.

This makes them actually nice instead of just seeming to be nice on the surface and they are able to actually do things to help other people without bargaining for it and recognize when something they might do would hurt someone. They usually have fairly good instincts on what will be helpful and what won't, and if they screw up then they'll try to make it better instead of just shrugging it off and deciding it's not their problem.

They also are not childish- a bit silly a lot of times and plays with children very well, but they are for the most part a functioning young adult who has long outgrown actual tantrums. They might get pouty but will do that only in the presence of their family or in private, and would never show that if they needed to be professional in any capacity. ...Even though they're not super great at being professional, but they try.

Abilities:
-The ability to use and see through Glamour (the illusion/outward form the Fae use to hide their true selves)
-Can alter and shift their form/Glamour
-Able to sense the energy of other Fae, both in terms of 'claims' and identifying Domains (the areas in which individual Fae control the Elsewhere)
-Can enter the Elsewhere at will
-Complete control over their own Domain, lesser control over other areas of the Elsewhere; they are basically the god of their own Domain
-Can use dream/persuasion magic to draw people into the Elsewhere
-Can employ a variety of curses; these must be tied to the situation that inspired the curse. For example, if someone bumped into them and didn't apologize, they could curse them to just keep running into inanimate objects. They can't be prevented, but can be removed, either by making a Deal with Feste or another Fae, or via magic. If someone is immune to curses (via magic or other worldly intervention), the curses may not stick.
-Can modify/take people's Souls (the essence of what makes a human who they are; taking pieces of their Soul can just be simple as partial ownership of them or may take away part of their personality/abilities)- this does not have to be in terms of a Deal for it to work, it's just that the Gentry don't generally give up anything for free; this also counts as a way of 'hurting' people by squeezing/putting pressure on their soul
-Can control someone by knowing their True Name (they will NOT be getting this back)
-Weak to iron, cannot lie, cannot cross over salt (in order to stop them, the salt must be condensed- it doesn't have to be a thick line, but dispersed grains of it doesn't work. That being said, they probably wouldn't want to step into the ocean, but flying/going over it shouldn't be a problem. Salted streets very well might be.)
